Here at Gosh! we’re passionate about protecting our planet as much as possible. Our food strives to be as kind to the environment as it is to our bodies.

So when you shop with Gosh!, you can have peace of mind that every decision we make, from every ingredient we add to our products, to every manufacturing process we put in place, and even to the way we execute our press releases, is as sustainable as possible.

We want to take you through all the ways we endeavor to take care of our environment.

Making Plant Based Eating Accessible

Gosh!’s main mission is to bring plant based eating to as many people as possible, because going meat-free is one of the best ways to reduce carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions, create less water and land usage and result in less harm to animals.

However, we’re well aware that cutting out meat and other animal products completely isn’t for everyone, and can seem pretty daunting.

That’s why, with our products, we want to show the world that removing meat and getting more natural, sustainable foods into your diet doesn’t have to be hard, and doesn’t have to deprive your taste buds.

At the Gosh! table, anyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a die-hard vegan or even a veggie for life, we’re all-inclusive, and simply focus on bringing delicious, exciting and easy to use healthy food to your plate, no matter your preferred diet.

Our range is designed to be versatile and convenient so that it can fit into everybody’s lives. The products can be used to re-invent the classics, act as the perfect meal prep partner, or be eaten straight from the packet whilst you’re on the go. All without compromising on goodness.

Using All Natural Ingredients

The ingredients that go into our range are incredibly important. We want to ensure that they include, and just as importantly, exclude, all the right things.

Our goal is to make each one of our products a source of protein, fibre and part of your 5 a day, whilst keeping them low in saturated fat and naturally free from all 14 of the most common allergens.

By remaining all natural, we also ensure that our food is free from hidden nasties like palm oil, chemicals and additives.

We’re giving you ingredients as nature intended them which, unlike highly processed, synthetic foods, are rich in the healthy nutrients we need to help our bodies thrive.

Our ingredients and products are also all minimally processed, making them better for the environment, as well as your body.

Making Environmentally Friendly Packaging Solutions

The packaging that houses our products is just as important as the food itself.

Currently, all of our plastic trays are 100% recyclable, and the rest of our packing is made from nearly 60% fully recyclable material, however this is a percentage were constantly working incredibly hard at increasing to 100%.

The latest release of our glorious snack bites is something we’re particularly proud of, as they are in fully recyclable packaging. This release is a significant one as it signals the start of all of our future packing being made with fully recyclable materials, a prospect that is enormously exciting for everyone as Gosh!

We’re also proud to say that every sleeve, box and label used to package Gosh! products are certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council, meaning that the cardboard used to formulate these pieces of packaging comes from sustainably managed and responsible forests.

As well as our product packaging, the way we formulate our press release is also something we put a lot of thought into, and an area we’re determined to keep as sustainable as possible. Our latest PR package saw us send out our Happy Snack Mailer. The Mailer itself was not only completely recyclable but was also made from 100% recycled coffee cups.

When is comes to PR packages, we also make sure only to include things that are useful, reusable or recyclable. For example, one release revolved around a 100% natural and completely edible garden which was accompanied by a plantable information card!

Being a Zero Waste to Landfill Manufacturer

We’re very proud to say that we have received a Greener Path Award for ‘Zero Waste to landfill’, an award issued by ACM Environmental PLC.

The award emphasises that as a business, we display effort and achievement in minimising waste production, increasing recycling, and avoiding materials going to landfill. It also signifies innovative and sustainable methods of handling waste streams.

Turning Food Waste Into Bio-Fuel

One of the innovative ways Gosh! handles waste, is by turning it into renewable energy.

All of our food refuse is collected and sent to an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant. Anaerobic Digestion is the process of naturally breaking down organic materials into methane, carbon dioxide and fertiliser. So when our food waste is sent to an AD plant, it is broken down by bacteria into biogas, which is subsequently turned into bio fuel and bio fertilser.

Sites Built With Sustainability In Mind

Another way in which we aim to protect our planet is in the development of our manufacturing sites.

Having the conservation of energy and power as a goal led to us creating our new site with a gas free hot water supply, meaning more natural resources are protected. The site is also equipped with energy saving lighting, meaning we save energy and lower carbon emissions without losing out on light.

Supporting the Local Community

We achieve two things at once by sending additional Gosh! food products to two local charities, meaning we’re lowering food waste whilst aiding the local community.

The two charities we hand our goods over to are Dine With Us On The Streets and MK Community Fridge.

Dine With Us On The Streets run a community food larder made up of donated foods from across Bedford and Milton Keynes that otherwise would end up going to landfill. The food collected, as well as hot food is given out by community volunteers to those suffering from food poverty.

MK Community Fridge host over  200 community fridges in the UK, with the aim for the fridges to help both residents and business to reduce their food waste by giving them a place to donate the food, and anybody in the community to come and make use of it.

Using Our Voices

We like to shout from the rooftops about our products and how all of you wonderful humans use them. We think it’s an incredible way to inspire more and more people, not only because it encourages them to eat more plants and less meat, but also because it gets people thinking about why they’re doing it.

Our social media is jam-packed with exciting ideas of how we, and you, find innovative recipe ideas that use our all-natural products.

We will also always use our voice to remain transparent about our production processes, using articles just like this one to tell you how in every business step we make we are striving to reduce emissions, cultivate conservation, support the natural world and help save its resources.

Keeping Kindness at Our Core

When we talk about being kind to our planet, we’re also talking about being kind to everything and everybody on it from humans, to animals and wildlife, to the environment.

We set up the Kindness Edit so we could spread and celebrate small and big acts of kinds being made all over the world and inspire others to make their own. We would love to hear about more incredible acts of kindness, so share your own by emailing us at [email protected] so we can continue to spread positivity and spark smiles.

We also invented the Kindness Café, where kindness acted as currency, and you could exchange an act of kindness pledge for a free Gosh! snack. We’d absolutely love the Kindness Café to make a return, so if you’d like it to make an appearance in your city then let us know over on our Facebook or Instagram page.

Future Forward Thinking

These processes, pledges, and campaigns are just the beginning for Gosh!

Looking towards the future, we want to continue to practice the sustainable practices already in place, and start to develop new, innovative, ways of protecting the earth and our environment in a way that combats climate change and protects our natural world.
